Hello!
Hope this newsletter finds you all safe and cool. At this point, it is hard to remember the February Frost! With the heat index raising into the 100’s, it is more important than ever to let us know when you will be out of town. We need to keep all the horses on a regular work schedule to ensure they will continue sweating. The feed also needs to be adjusted to the amount of work they are doing to keep them healthy through these hot summer months.
We managed to sneak to Kentucky for two weeks of showing in June. Here are some of the highlights.
Week 1
Liston Johnson and Jumping Jack aka JJ were Champion in the Intermediate Children’s Hunters.
Shana Parasher and Marcus Aurelius aka Marcus were Champion in the Walk/Trot.
Caroline Molther got her first Derby ribbon for MPH on Courtney Baggett’s Highmark aka Koko. The pair placed eighth in a very competitive field.
Jordan Fama and Victoria Johnson’s Brazos got great ribbons in the Intermediate Adult Hunters.
Brittany Tribble and Charon picked up ribbons in the Walk/Trot.
Sloane Wallace and RVF Hudson aka Hudson scored a fourth and an eighth in the younger 3’-3” Junior Hunters.
Week 2
Brittany Tribble upped her game in week 2. She and Charon were Champion in the Walk/Trot!
Amber Tribble and Folklore aka Archie joined us for week 2. They finished up with a fourth place finish in the very competitive Younger Adult Hunters.
Shana Parasher and Marcus were only able to show one day during week 2, but they made it count by winning another blue and another red ribbon.
Liston Johnson and JJ made their first Derby appearance together, bringing home a third place ribbon with scores of 83 and 78. They were the highest placed 2’-6” contenders!
Liston and Grafton also upped their game and brought home some great ribbons over fences, along with good under saddle ribbons.
Caroline and Koko scored another derby ribbon. This week, it was a ninth place finish.
Jordan Fama and Brazos continued getting great ribbons in the Intermediate Adult Hunters including a second place finish out of 27 horses.
Sloane and Hudson placed seventh in their under saddle class.
These were tough shows and our riders did a great job. So proud of everyone! Now on to Michigan!
Closer to home, we had a great time at Pony Camp. We did a little riding, learned a little about horse care and had a lot of fun! Julia Sand sure showed us how to handle an egg during the egg games! And who could forget Shana’s wild golf cart ride! And the mini’s, need I say more?! We also had a great time quizzing Angel and Gabi on the parts of the tack! A big thank you to our campers and staff that made the mornings go so quickly.
A big welcome to Sofi Jones, Sabrina Jiwani and MJ Maestas.
Remember we are closed Sunday, July 4.
Have a safe and healthy summer.
