July 2023 Newsletter

Hello!

Summer is here with a vengeance.  In this extreme heat it is vital that our horses and ponies stay on a schedule (exercise and feed).  Please let us know if you are going out of town so we can keep your animals healthy.  We will continue to monitor our hours for riding times to ensure the health and safety of our horses/ponies, riders and staff.  Remember to bring water!!!  Please tell your children to speak up if they are overheating.

Thank you to everyone who participated in camp this year.  We always have fun with camp!  Hope those that attended had fun and learned a thing or two.

Some of us managed to miss two weeks of the heat while we showed in Lexington, Kentucky.  Weather wise we missed the heat but MPH was sizzling hot in the ring.  Everyone had great results!  Here are some highlights.

Week 1

Margaux Petersen and Jumping Jack aka JJ were Champion in the Long Stirrup Hunters.  Margaux and JJ won all their hunter over fences classes!

Emory Wuertz and Loafer’s Lodge Triple Play aka Triple were Champion in the Walk/Trot.

MJ Maestas and Clint one aka Uno were Reserve Champion in the Low Children’s Hunters.  MJ also won a Low Children’s Hunter over fences on her second mount, Major Sassafras aka Majorette.

Amelie Schaeffer and Sparkles won the Walk/Trot under saddle.

Caroline Molther started the winning week on Liston Johnson’s Highmark aka Koko.  The pair took home the blue in the USHJA 3’ Hunter over fences.

Week 1 notable,  Liston Johnson placed fifth on Highmark and thirteenth on Don Bocelli aka Freddie in the USHJA National Hunter Derby (JR/AM) out of a field of thirty.

Week 2

Margaux Petersen and Jumping Jack once again hit it out of the park.  The pair were double Champions topping both the Long Stirrup Equitation and Long Stirrup Hunter Divisions.  Margaux and JJ once again won all their hunter over fences classes!

Amelie Schaeffer and Sparkles stepped up their game and were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot

We had a one, two finish in the Younger X-Rail under saddle class.  Emory Wuertz and Loafer’s Lodge Triple Play aka Triple won followed by barn mate Amelie and Sparkles.

Liston Johnson also had a one, two finish in a Younger Children’s Hunter over fences class.  Liston won the class on Freddie and was second on Koko.

Week 2 notables,  Liston Johnson and Highmark finished tenth in the National Hunter Derby Regional Junior Championships.  Elle Wuertz and Tallulah aka Lulu were second in the 2’6” Hunter Derby.  MJ Maestas also had good placings out of the field of 29.  MJ placed seventh on Major Sassafras and ninth on Clint One.

Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego stopped at the Lamplight Horse Shows on the way to their vacation in Minnesota.  Everything was awesome because Marisol won an equitation class and the Children’s Hunter Classic!
