Hello!
Although autumn has arrived it still feels like summer to me. Hopefully, Houston weather will soon get the notice that summer is over. Despite the heat we have gone back to school hours. Please remember to drink plenty of fluids. You will continue to sign up for lessons on Time Tree. Weekend lessons will continue to get assigned times.
A few people have asked about lessons being closed on Time Tree. Katherine closes the lessons the evening before so that we can better plan our day. If you miss signing up on the app and want to ride, contact Patty. As long as the lessons are not huge, we will put you on the schedule. If your child has a day off or early dismissal and would like to ride earlier or have a private lesson please contact Patty. We will try to accommodate any special weekday request.
We attended two horse shows in Katy during September. The first was the Southwest Showdown followed by Great Southwest Fall Classic. We also attended the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Here are some of the highlights for the Southwest Showdown. You will have to stay tuned for the highlights of the other two shows as they didn’t end until October!
Southwest Showdown Highlights
Caroline Molther started the winning with MJ Maestas’s Clint One aka Uno. The pair were Champion in the USHJA 2’6” Hunter Division. Caroline also won a class in the division with Liston Johnson’s Highmark aka Koko.
Annabel Grefe had a great birthday weekend with Sorry Not Sorry aka Nacho. They were Reserve Champion in the Small/Medium Children’s Pony Hunters.
Margot Evans and Divide’s Freedom Spirit aka Spirit were Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup.
Hannah Cai and Paddington aka Paddy were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot.
And last but not least, Katherine De Zevallos and Brazos were Reserve Champion in the 18” Opportunity.
Also noteworthy, Liston Johnson finished eighth overall in the USHJA National Regional Junior Derby on Cassandra. She also finished sixth on Cassandra in the Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Area Championship.
We will be attending the Monster Mash Horse Show in Katy, October 19-22. If you have not already done so please let us know if you will be attending asap.
Thank you to everyone who responded to the Wellington inquiry. If you have not already told us you are going please do so asap. It did not seem like people were interested in the week of January 24-28 so we are removing that week from our show schedule. That gives us a minute to breathe before Winter Series!
A huge congratulations to Dana Malin. Dana has been selected to ride on the SCAD riding team.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to Wynn Owre. She will be riding Bojack and JJ.
