December 2023 Newsletter

Happy Holidays!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Holiday Party, Sunday, December 10 starting at 2:00.  Bring your appetite but please do not bring your dogs.  We expect a special guest to arrive approximately at 4-4:30 depending on sled conditions.

November was a busy show month for us.  We spent the first three weeks of November competing at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center.  Here are some of the highlights.

Harvest

MPH had a clean sweep in the Short Stirrup Division.  Katherine De Zevallos  and Brazos were Champion.  Margot Evans and Divides Freedom Spirit aka Spirit were Reserve Champion.

Caroline also had two blue ribbon rounds in the jumpers with Bouverie Trinity and Chine Van’t Schanshof Z

Ellie Tapp and Cordoba Z won the Saturday Warm Up.

Honorable Mention, Liston Johnson had a third place finish in her first Low Children’s Jumper Classic on Chine!

Autumn Classic

Hannah Cai and Charm Your Sox Off  aka Kermit were Champion in the Walk/Trot Division.  Two fun facts about this duo; this was there first show together and they won all their classes!  Look for them in the X-Rails in 2024!

Elle McNear and Caracalla aka Boston were Reserve Champion in the Pre Children’s.  Boston was also Champion in the USHJA 2’9” Hunters with Caroline Molther in the irons.

Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego won the younger Children’s Hunter under Saddle.  Look for this pair to be moving up into the 3’3” Juniors.

Final Chase

Liston Johnson and Highmark made their last show together a great one. They were Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunters along with being second in the Classic.  Liston also won a Children’s Equitation over Fences with Cassandra .

Dana Malin’s Happier Than Ever aka Eli was double Reserve Champion with Caroline.  Eli and Caroline were Champion in the GSEC 2’9” Hunters and the USHJA 3’ Hunters.  Now that Dana is on winter break from SCAD she will be taking the reins back on Eli.

Katherine DeZevallos and Brazos were Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup.

MJ Maestas and Clint One aka Uno had another winning trip in the Low Children’s Hunters.  MJ and SWS Charleston aka Charlie also won a class.  The pair put in a winning round in the Pre Children’s Hunters.  Look for MJ in the 3’ rings in 2024!

And just like that another show year draws to a close!  Please remember to join all appropriate organizations for 2024.  If you are not sure which associations you need to join contact Patty.

Last call for anyone wanting to go to WEF in January.  Please let Patty know if you have not already done so.  Also please let us know if you are planning to do Frost Fire in Katy, December 14-17.

Wishing Margot Evans the best of luck with her new ride, Bada Bing Bada Blue aka Blue.  Look for them in the Children’s Pony Hunters.
