Happy Summer!

Another school year in the books!  Wow!  Well done to our high school graduates Dana Malin and Lily O’Gorman.  We will miss you! Dana will be attending Savannah College of Art and Design.  Lily will be a Longhorn at University of Texas.

Well done to our middle school graduates as well!  Katherine de Zevallos will move into high school at the School of the Woods.  Delaney Husted will be attending Episcopal High School in the fall.  Liston Johnson will be at Second Baptist in the fall. Mackenzie Marshall was accepted into St Johns for high school.  Dinah Whitley will go to Houston Academy Of International Studies.

We spent two busy weeks in May showing at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas.  Here are some of the highlights of those weeks.

GSEC Round UP:

Katherine DeZevallos’s Brazos was double Champion.  He was Champion with Caroline Molther in the USHJA Hunter 2’-0”.   He was also Champion with Katherine in the 18” Opportunity Division.  Samantha Marshall and Moves Like Jagger aka Jagger were right behind Katherine and Brazos.  They were Reserve Champion in the 18” Opportunity.

Lauren Harrison’s RVF Hudson aka Hudson also won two tri colors.  Caroline was Reserve Champion in the Hopeful Hunters and Lauren was Champion in the Pre Adult.  It is definitely worth noting that Lauren and Hudson had a clean sweep of their division, winning all five of their classes.

Margot Evans and Divide’s Freedom Spirit aka Spirit were Champion in the Short Stirrup Division.   Mackenzie Marshall and Charmed aka Charm were Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup.

Elle McNear and Bada Bing Bada Blue aka Blue were Champion in the Medium Pony Division.  On Saturday, Elle and Blue scored an 84 and an 81!

Hannah Cai and Paddington aka Paddy won both Walk/Trot Pole classes on Sunday.  They were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot.  This was their second show together!

MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette were Reserve Champion in the Low Children’s Hunters.  MJ and Majorette scored an 81.5 and an 85 on Sunday.  MJ also won a Low Children’s Hunter over Fences on Clint One aka Uno.

Dana Malin and Happier Than Ever aka Eli were Reserve Champion in the Weekend Hunters.  They also won their Warm Up.

Liston Johnson scored a Blue Ribbon on each of her horses.  On Saturday she and SWS Charleston aka Charley won the Children’s Warm Up.  On Sunday Liston won the first Children’s Hunter over Fences on Highmark aka Koko.  She and Don Bocelli aka Freddie won the second Children’s Hunter over Fences along with being second in the Classic.

Annabel Grefe and Sorry Not Sorry aka Nacho won two classes.  The pair won the Warm Up on Saturday and also the Children’s Pony Hunter under Saddle.

Fiesta Classic:

Samantha Marshall and Moves Like Jagger aka Jagger were Champion in the 18’ Opportunity.

Sam’s sister Mackenzie won the Short Stirrup under Saddle on Charmed aka Charm.

Lauren Harrison and RVF Hudson aka Hudson won three under saddle classes!  They won the Hopeful Hunter, USHJA 3’ Hunter and Older Adult Amateur under saddle classes.  Caroline Molther shared riding duties with Lauren on Hudson to bring in the Reserve Champion in the 3’ USHJA Hunters.

Liston Johnson had a great show in both the Equitation and Hunters.  She was Reserve Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunters with Don Bocelli aka Freddie.  Liston and SWS Charleston aka Charley won the THIS along with winning a Children’s Equitation over Fences.  Highmark aka Koko and Liston won the Saturday Warm up.

Margaux Petersen’s Jumping Jack aka JJ and Caroline were Reserve Champion in the 2’ USHJA Hunters.

Hannah Cai and Paddington aka Paddy won a Pole class on Saturday and also on Sunday.

Elle McNear won a class on both Bada Bling Bada Blue aka Blue and Canadian Pacific aka Cisco.  She won the WIHS with a score of 82 on Blue.  On Cisco, Elle won the 2’-6” Saturday Warm Up.  Worth a mention, Elle and Blue got a score of 84 in the second round of their Classic.

Katherine DeZevallos and Brazos won a Short Stirrup over Fences Class along with winning a Warm Up.  This was Katherine’s first time doing the Short Stirrup.

Dana Malin’s Happier Than Ever aka Eli won a Hopeful Hunter over Fences with Caroline.
