August 2025 Newsletter

Hello from Kentucky!

It is hard to believe that summer vacation is coming to an end.  Unfortunately Summer temperatures do not seem to be coming to an end.  We will continue to observe summer hours at least through Labor Day.

Summer Hours

Monday…Closed

Tuesday…8-12, 5-7

Wednesday…8-12, 5-7

Thursday…8-12, 5-7

Friday…8-1

Saturday…lessons start at 8

Sunday…lessons start at 8

Weekday lessons will continue to be scheduled on Time Tree.  If you are able to do the morning lessons we ask that you sign up for the morning time.  This will help keep afternoon lessons to manageable sizes for those who must ride in the afternoon.  Please join lessons at least 24 hours in advance.  This allows us to monitor the number of riders in the group.  If your child is not yet riding in group lessons you will continue to schedule through the office.  Weekend lessons will be scheduled by the office.  Please let us know asap if you or your child have any restrictions for when you can ride on the weekends during the school year.  We will do our best to accommodate you.

I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s summer adventures.  MPH spent July in Traverse City, Michigan.  Here are some of the highlights.

Our jumpers, Cha Ching aka Chips (MJ Maestas), Gigolo VD Berghoeve Z aka Geo (Liston Johnson), SWS Charleston aka Charley (Delaney Husted) all had a blue ribbon jumper rounds.

Liston and Geo placed fifth in the 1.10-1.15 Junior Jumper Classic week 2.  She was one of five riders who went double clear.

Liston and Geo also placed eleventh in the 1.10-1.15 Junior Jumper week 4.

Liston Johnson and MJ Maestas had many good rounds in the equitation ring.

Week 3 MJ and Perry were Champion in the 12-14 Equitation Division.

Liston won the 3’3” Jump Seat Medal on Equitation Tuesday 1.  Equitation Tuesday 2 found Liston in the winners circle for both the 3’3” Jump Seat Medal and the Hamel.

MJ placed first in the 3’3” Hunt Seat Medal on Equitation Tuesday 1.  MJ and Perry had a win in the 3’3” Jump Seat Medal along with a win in the NCEA on Equitation Tuesday 2.

In the Hunter Derby Ring Liston and Grand Romance aka Champ placed tenth in the Junior/Amateur Derby week 2.  She finished on a score of 145.  MJ and Oswald Van De Leeuwerk aka Ozzy were fourth in the Junior/Amateur Derby week 3.  They finished on a score of 176.5.  MJ and Ozzy also placed ninth in the Junior/Amateur Derby week 4 finishing on a score of 169.

In the Children’s Pony Hunter Classic week 3 Sam and MTM So Fly placed sixth.  They finished on a score of 150.

In the 3’3” Junior Hunter Classic week 3 Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego were seventh .  Their final score was 155.75.

Week 1 Georgia Carter and Side Hustle aka Vemy brought home two blue ribbons in the Intermediate Children’s/Adult Hunters.

Week 3 Samantha Marshall and Southwind Beau Regard aka Reggie won a Large Children’s Hunter Pony over fences class.

Week 4 Sam and Reggie did it again!  The pair won a Large Children’s Hunter Pony over fences class with a score of 83.

Congratulations to Margot Evans, she is moving into the land of horses.  Although Margot did not show in Michigan, she did shop!  She is bringing home Uncanny aka Mickey for her debut into the horse world.

Happy Birthday to our August birthdays, Abigail Cheng, Taylor Nagle, Savannah Davalos and Debbie Cardwell!

Horse Show Corner

What is a Blue Ribbon Class?  This is a Jumper Division Class generally held at the beginning of the horse show.  It is offered at different heights usually over a less technical course.  All riders that go clean (no knock downs) within the time allowed receive a blue ribbon.  Riders generally use this class as a schooling class and to get their horse in the ring prior to the start of their division.

Good luck to our Pony Final contestants!
