Hello!
I can’t believe we are already into the school year. The summer just flew by! We spent the month of July in Traverse City, Michigan and then went on to Lexington, Kentucky. Lexington gave Houston a run for its money with heat advisories. We finished up the summer at the Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton, New York where we enjoyed the weather, riding and shopping!
Margot Evans and Anabel Grefe both attended Pony Finals for the first time. I was so proud of them. They both listened to instruction, tried hard and kept a good attitude through two days of intense competition. I am sure their hard work during PF week will show up as we finish the rest of our show year.
Here are some more results from Kentucky.
Kentucky Summer Classic:
Uncanny aka Mickey was Champion in the 2’ Hunter Division with Caroline Molther in the irons. In case you don’t remember from last month’s newsletter, Mickey is Margot Evans new ride.
Grand Romance aka Champ owned and ridden by Liston Johnson was Reserve Champion in the Older, 3’-6” Large Junior Hunters. Liston also had Clear rounds on Gigolo VD Berghoeve aka Geo in the schooling classes.
Indigo aka Indie owned by Annabel Grefe won a 2’ Hunter over Fences class with Caroline Molther in the irons.
Bluegrass Horse Show:
RVF Hudson aka Hudson and owner/rider Lauren Harrison won the Low Hunter over fences in the Murphy Ring on Friday.
Liston Johnson and Gigolo VD Berghoeve aka Geo and Gregory Girl aka Nala all jumped around their Blue-Ribbon classes fault free.
Amalie Shaeffer and Flower Power aka Faith moved up to the Children Pony Division where they won their first over fences class.
Upcoming Horse Shows:
We will be showing in Katy, Texas in September. Please let us know by e-mail if you plan to attend one or both shows. There are classes for everyone. Congratulations to Liston Johnson for qualifying for the Maclay Regional to be held during the Southwest Showdown.
We will also be attending the Capital Challenge Horse Show. Congratulations to Liston Johnson and MJ Maestas for qualifying for the 3’-3” Jump Seat Medal Final. MJ is also qualified for the THIS Medal Finals. Hunter week of Capital Challenge has some MPH qualifiers too. Sam Marshall is qualified for the Children’s Hunter Challenge. MJ Maestas is qualified for the 3’-3” Junior Hunter Challenge. Liston Johnson is qualified for the 3’-6’ Junior Hunter Challenge. Our own Caroline Molther is qualified for both the Developing Professional and Professional Challenges. Good luck ladies!
MPH Riding Lessons:
Now that everyone is back from their summer adventures it is more important then ever to sign up for lessons on the Time Tree App. Please do this 24 hours in advance so we can keep an eye on how many riders are in the ring at one time.
If you sign up after the 24-hour cut off and the lesson is full you will not be allowed to ride. We understand that things come up unexpectantly, but please do not sign up for a time slot and not show up. You could be taking away a slot from someone who would like to ride. If you miss the 24-hour cut off for signing up or deleting yourself from a lesson text Patty at 713-805-8266.
Please remind your child that if you have not signed up for their horse or pony to be untacked they should not be dismounting and handing their pony off to the guys. If you have not signed up to have the horse or pony untacked but find you need this service, please speak to Al prior to handing the horse or pony off.
We will move to School Hours on Tuesday, September 9.
School Hours:
Monday…Closed
Tuesday-Thursday…8 AM to 12 Noon; 3PM to 7PM. (last lesson at 6P.M.)
Friday…8AM to 12 Noon; 3PM to 6PM. (last lesson at 5P.M.)
Saturday, Sunday…8AM until lessons are finished.
Horse Show Corner:
As we start our fall horse show schedule, we would like to give a few reminders for good horse show etiquette.
First and foremost, parents and on lookers do not belong at the in gate. It is distracting for both the rider and the trainer.
Please do not call or text during the day for an update as to when the class starts. Caroline and I are both busy assisting other clients during the show day. Most shows have an app that you can access for timing.
Any riders competing in classes above opportunity should know their course prior to getting on and going to the ring.
Congratulations to Liston Johnson on her new ride, Gregory Girl. They have already had some good results in the Jumper Ring including going double clear in their Classic at the Hampton Classic.
September Birthdays:
Happy Birthday to our September birthdays! Tracy McAoo, Ellie Tapp, Annabel Grefe and Gabriel all celebrate this month.
Glad to be back!
Patty
