June 2022 Newsletter

Hello!

Well, we made it through another school year!  Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our high school graduate, Elisabeth Marek.  We wish her the best in this new phase of her life.

A big welcome back to Lina Monty who is back for the summer.  Lina just finished her Freshman year at TCU.  I don’t know about Lina, but Petunia gained the Freshman fifteen!

A big welcome to Dana Malin and her horse Happier Than Ever aka Eli.

Also, a big welcome to Hannah Cai and her pony Paddington aka Paddy.

If you have not already done so, please let us know what your camp/travel plans are for the summer.  It is important with the heat that your horse or pony is on an exercise program.  Unfit horses are more likely to stop sweating.  It is also important that they are not over fed in relation to their work schedule, especially during the heat of the summer.

If your child is planning on attending Pony Camp, please send them with drinks and a small snack. Remember drop off is at 7:45 am and pick up is at noon.  If you want your child to attend, but have not yet told us, just send us an e-mail to office@memorialparkhunters.com.

If your child is going to sleep-away camp and you would like them to get a letter/e-mail from the barn, send an e-mail to office@memorialparkhunters.com.  Tell us when your child will be attending camp, which camp they will be attending, and when.  Be sure to include the email address where the letter/e-mail should be sent.

We spent the first two weeks of May in Katy, Texas showing at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Here are the highlights.

Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko won both Younger Children’s Hunter over Fences classes on Sunday.

How about the mother and daughter team of Brittany and Amber Tribble?  They each scored a win!

MJ Maestas and Major moved out of the Opportunity ring into the Short Stirrup where they got a ribbon in every class.

If you want to go to any out-of-state shows this summer and you are not signed up, please call Patty asap to try and secure a stall for the shows you wish to attend.

As summer progresses, please remember to bring water to all your lessons.  The flip side of that is to remember to take your water bottles home with you or dispose of them in a trash can.

Even with the hot weather, we expect you to dress neat.  Please make sure your shirt is tucked in and fits appropriately.  If your pants have belt loops you should be wearing a belt.  Hair should be neat and tied back.  ABSOLUTELY no bare mid drifts or sports bras.

Have a safe and fun filled summer!
