November 2022 Newsletter

Hello!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Annual MPH Halloween Parade and Extravaganza.

An especially big thank you to Georgia Carter for judging the costume contest.  There were some great costumes.

The Best Costume went to Katherine de Zevallos and Hadron.  They were the skeleton!

Sophy Aramburo guessed the candy corn.  She guessed the exact number, 300!

We had another busy month in the show ring starting the first weekend in October at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas.  Here are some of the highlights of The Great Southwest Fall Classic.

MPH had a clean sweep in the Opportunity Ring!

Emery Wuertz and Lillie Lyn aka Lillie were Champion once again in the Walk/Trot Division.

Mackenzie Marshall and Charmed aka Charm were Champion in the X-Rail Division.  They were also Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot.  This was Mackenzie’s first show!

Margot Evans and Buenos were Champion in the 18” Opportunity.

MPH had success in other rings as well!

Elle Wuertz and Tallulah aka Lulu were Reserve Champion again!  This time they took the tricolor in the Weekend Hunters.  Lulu also got a blue ribbon in the 2’-3” USHJA Hunters with Caroline Molther in the irons.

Liston Johnson and SWS Charleston aka Charley were Reserve Champion in the Junior Equitation.

MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette were Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup.  Caroline also picked up a win in the 2’ USHJA Hunters over fences on Majorette.

Emmy Canterbury and Bada Bing Bada Blue won the Pony Hunter under saddle.

Lily O’Gorman and Fortune Hunter aka Buzz won the Limit Equitation on the Flat.  This was Lily and Buzz’s first show together.

Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego won a blue ribbon over fences in the Low Children’s Division.  Caroline also picked up a blue on Lego in the Hopeful Hunter under saddle.

Georgia Carter’s Gentleman Jack aka Jack won two 2’-3” USHJA Hunter classes with Caroline.

The following week found us at the highly competitive Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko competed in the World Champion Hunter Rider Children’s Challenge.  This was a class that Liston had to qualify for during the 2022 show year.  Liston and Koko finished ninth overall.  Congratulations Liston!

Caroline Molther also qualified over the course of the year to ride in the World Champion Hunter Rider Developing Pro Challenge.  Lauren Harrison generously loaned RVF Hudson to Caroline to ride in the class.  The pair got scores in the 80’s from all three judging panels.  They finished just out of the top 12, placing 14 overall.  Well done Caroline!

I was extremely proud of both Liston and Caroline’s placings at the Capital Challenge.  Good job girls!

We also attended the Monster Mash Horse Show in Katy, Texas.  Here are some highlights of that show.

Laura Carter and Divides Freedom Spirit aka Spirit were Champion in the Children’s Hunter Pony Division.  MPH had a one-two finish in the first Children’s Hunter Pony over fences class.  Laura and Spirit had the win.  Margaux Peterson and Hot Wheels aka Duncan were second.

It was a great weekend for the Wuertz Girls and their Mares!  Elle and Tallulah aka Lulu were Champion in the Weekend Hunters.  Younger sister Emery and Lillie Lynn aka Lillie were Champion in the Walk/Trot.

Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko were Reserve Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunters. Liston and Koko also won the Saturday Warm Up.  Caroline Molther  and Koko won a 3’-3” Performance Hunter over fences.  Liston had success in the equitation ring as well.  Liston and SWS Charleston aka Charley won a Children’s Equitation over Fences.

Delaney Husted and Small World aka Petunia were Reserve Champion in the Limit Hunter Division.  Delaney also won the Limit Equitation on the Flat.

Margot Evans and Buenos were Reserve Champion in the 18” Opportunity.

Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego won the Modified Children’s Equitation over Fences.  Caroline also won a Hopeful Hunter over fences class on Lego.

MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette won the Saturday Warm Up.

We will be attending three weeks of shows at Great Southwest Equestrian Center in November.  If you have not already told us which shows you would like to attend, please do so asap.

If you are interested in going to Wellington in January and have not already told us, please contact Patty ASAP.

Along with this newsletter and your statement you will be receiving a tentative schedule for the 2023 horse shows MPH will be attending.
