Can you believe Spring Break is here already ? Please let us know when you will be out of town. If you are planning on showing at Pin Oak and have not already told us, please do so asap. The Pin Oak shows often sell out of stalls. The same holds true of stalls in Kentucky and Michigan, please let us know your summer plans asap. Kentucky Horse Shows are June 7-11 and 13-18. We will be in Michigan all of July and the first week of August.
We spent the month of February at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy. Here are some of the highlights of the four weeks of shows.
Texas Winter Series 1
Memorial Park Hunters had a great showing with many Tri Colors and Blues in the hunters, jumpers and equitation.
Margot Evans and Divide’s Freedom Spirit aka Spirit were Champion in the Short Stirrup. As well as winning a warm up.
Marisol Hess and Everything Is Awesome aka Lego were Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunters.
Liston Johnson and SWS Charleston aka Charley were Reserve Champion in the Open Equitation. Liston and Charley also won their first THIS Medal!
Elle McNear and Bada Bing Bada Blue aka Blue were Reserve Champion in the Pony Hunter Division securing their spot at Pony Finals this summer. Elle also won the WIHS Pony Equitation class!
Laura Carter’s Goldfever aka Goldie was Champion in the Hopeful Hunters with Caroline Molther in the saddle. Caroline also won two warm up’s on Goldie.
Liston Johnson scored her first Blue Ribbon on her new horse, Don Bocelli aka Freddie. They won the Younger Children’s Hunter under saddle on Saturday and followed it up on Sunday with a win in the warm up.
MJ Maestas and her new mount Clint One aka Uno also brought home two blue ribbons in their first show together. They won a Low Children’s Hunter over fences and the Low Children’s Hunter under saddle. MJ and her old partner Major Sassafras aka Majorette won three Limit Hunter over fences along with the Limit Equitation over fences.
Ellie Tapp and Cordoba Z aka Cinco won the THJA Low Children’s Mini Medal.
Our jumper riders really knocked it out of the park this week!
Julia Sand and Cassino Royale aka Gus were Champion in the Weekend Jumpers.
Sloane Wallace and Bouverie Trinity aka Bo were Champion in the Low Children’s Jumpers. Sloane also won a Low Children’s Jumper class on SWS Top Notch aka Zed.
Anabella De Leon Gamez and Chapeau were Reserve Champion in the Modified Children/Adult Jumpers.
Our Opportunity Exhibitors once again showed how it was done with multiple Champions, Reserve Champions and Blue Ribbons!
Katherine DeZevallos and Brazos were Champion in not one but two divisions! Katherine was Champion in the Walk/Trot and X-Rails Division.
Emory Wuertz and Loafer’s Lodge Triple Play aka Triple were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot as well as winning their first Walk, Trot, Canter Class together!
Samantha Marshall and Moves Like Jagger aka Jagger were Reserve Champion in the X-Rail Division. This was their first time in that division!
Not to be out done by her little sister Mackenzie Marshall and Charmed aka Charm were Champion in the 18” Opportunity Division. They won all three of their classes on Saturday.
And finally…we got lot’s of long ribbons too!
Marisol and Lego, second in Younger Children’s Hunter Classic.
Liston and Freddie, fourth in Younger Children’s Hunter Classic. Liston was also fifth in the Classic and sixth in the Derby on Highmark aka Koko.
Sloane and Bo, fifth in Low Children/Adult Jumper classic
And last but not least, Caroline rode both Koko and Lego to a blue ribbon in their respective warm ups.
Fun Fact, Liston Johnson, Elle McNear and Ellie Tapp all won their first Medal Equitation classes this week! Great job girls!
Texas Winter Series 2
Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko were Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunters. Liston also won a class of the Younger Children’s Hunters over fences on Don Bocelli aka Freddie. Between her two horses Liston won all the over fences classes in her division. Caroline Molther picked up the blue in Wednesday’s warm up on Koko.
Elle McNear and Bada Bing Bada Blue aka Blue stepped up their game and were Champion in the Medium Pony Hunter Division this week. Elle and Blue won all their hunter classes on Saturday along with winning the WIHS.
Lauren Harrison’s RVF Hudson aka Hudson was Champion in the Hopeful Hunters with Caroline Mother doing the jumping and Lauren taking over in the under saddle. Lauren and Hudson also won an over fences class in the Low Adult Hunters Division along with their warm up.
MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette were Reserve Champion in the Limit Hunter Division. They won both over fences and the under saddle on Saturday.
Ellie Tapp and Cordoba Z aka Cinco won two equitation classes. The pair won the Modified Children’s Equitation over fences. They also won for the second week in a row the THJA Children’s Mini Medal. In the Medal Delaney Husted and Small World aka Petunia came in a close second.
Elle Wuertz and Tallulah aka Lulu won an over fences class in the Low Children’s Hunters.
Delaney Husted and Small World aka Petunia won the GSEC Hunter 2’6” under saddle.
In the jumper ring, Julia Sand and Cassino Royale aka Gus picked up another tri color. They were Reserve Champion in the Weekend Jumpers.
And once again our Opportunity riders did an amazing job!
We were Champion and Reserve in every division in the Opportunity Ring!
Moves Like Jagger and Samantha Marshall were Champion in the Walk/Trot.
Emory Wuertz and Loafer’s Lodge Triple Play aka Triple were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot.

Fun Fact, Between RVF Hudson and MJ Maestas’s Clint One Caroline won all of the over fences classes in the Hopeful Hunter Division.
Texas Winter Series 3
Although we did not have as many riders competing this week MPH still had a strong showing!
Lauren Harrison and RVF Hudson aka Hudson were Champion in the Low Adult Hunter Division along with winning both their warm up’s. Look for this pair to be moving up very soon!
Caroline Molther and Silver Lining aka Harley were Champion in the GSEC 2’3” Hunters. The pair won all the division classes!
Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko were Reserve Champion in the Younger Children’s Hunter Division.
Liston also won her second THIS Medal on SWS Charleston aka Charley with a score of 83.
Ellie Tapp and Cordoba Z aka Cinco won a Low Children’s Hunter over Fences and the Modified Children’s Equitation on the Flat.
MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette won a Limit Hunter over Fences class. Caroline rode MJ’s other horse Clint One aka Uno to a blue ribbon in a Hopeful Hunter over Fences class.
Our Opportunity riders kept up their strong presence.
Amelie Schaeffer and Sparkles were Champion in the Walk/Trot followed closely by Sahana Parasher who took Reserve Champion with Silver Lining aka Harley.
Sahana and Harley were also Champion in the X-Rail Division.
Cheryl Lawrence and Chrisma also scored a blue ribbon in a X-Rail class.
Liston and Koko, third in Children Hunter Classic.
Fun Fact, Our one jumper rider at the show, Anabella DeLeon Gamez and Chapeau moved up a division to the Low Children’s Jumpers. They let their presence be known placing second and sixth.
Texas Winter Series 4
Lauren Harrison and RVF Hudson aka Hudson were Reserve Champion in the Pre-Adult Hunters. This was the pair’s first time competing in that division. Caroline Molther was also reserve Champion on Hudson in the 2’9” Houston Hunter.
MJ Maestas and Major Sassafras aka Majorette were Reserve Champion in the Limit Hunter Division. MJ also won a Low Children’s over Fences with Clint One aka Uno. Both MJ and Caroline picked up blue on Uno in their respective warm ups.
Ellie Tapp and Cordoba Z aka Cinco were Reserve Champion in the Low Children’s Hunter Division. They also won the THJA Children’s/Adult Medal.
In the Opportunity Ring, Cheryl Lawrence and Chrisma were Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot Division and the X-Rail Division.
Liston Johnson and Highmark aka Koko won the Children’s Hunter Classic with a score of 165. Liston and Koko also won their warm up. Caroline rode Liston’s Don Bocelli aka Freddie to the win in the 3’3’ Performance Handy round with a score of 87.
Anabella De Leon Gamez and Chapeau won a Low Children’s Jumper Class.
Elle McNear and Bada Bing Bada Blue aka Blue picked up another win in the medium Pony under saddle.

Veterinary Update, we will close at noon on Tuesday March 14 in order to worm the horses.
Book Corner, a big shout out to Kacey Maestas for the great book recommendation! She recommended Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. If you are looking for a good read over Spring break this is it.
